Bronze Stevie for the Customer Support Desk

Bridgman, Michigan, May 10, 2017 - B&L Information Systems has been awarded their third customer service focused Stevie® Award, this time in the Technology category for Front-Line Customer Service Team of the Year  - Less than 100 Employees. For 2017, B&L’s Customer Support Desk’s service focus on “Getting customers back on track, fast”, including creation of video help documentation, resulted in a Bronze Stevie Award. B&L had previously won a Bronze Stevie® Award for Customer Service Department of the Year – Computer Software – Up to 100 Employees  in 2016; and, in 2015, B&L won a Silver Stevie Award for Contact Center of the Year (up to 100 seats) – Technology Industry.

TSASCS17 Bronze Winnerhe Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service are the world’s annual top honors for customer service, contact center, business development and sales professionals. The Stevie Awards organizes several of the world’s leading business awards programs including the prestigious American Business AwardsSM  and International Business AwardsSM

Entry does not guarantee an award. To be considered for a Stevie, the B&L nomination had to succeed in two rounds of independent judging. More than 75 members of several specialized judging committees determined the Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award placements from among the Finalists during final judging in February of 2017. Finalists had been previously determined by another 77 judges during the initial judging round in January.

Joe Harmon 180x224“We know that when a customer calls or emails into the B&L ‘front line’, our Customer Support Desk, the customer has an issue that needs to be resolved and may be holding up company productivity. As a team, we continuously work to provide fast, accurate, and consistent answers to customer dilemmas,” stated Joe Harmon, Vice-President Technology & Support at B&L. “To achieve that goal, our Customer Support Desk has created hundreds of Rapid Support Documents, including more than 90 with video components, for both Odyssey’s Windows UI and Web UI that help customers visually step through common issues and get back on track, fast. We are delighted this year’s judges at the Stevie Awards recognized the level of commitment to excellent customer support in the B&L Customer Support Desk.”

B&L Information Systems Wins the 2016 SaaS Excellence Award from Progress Software

Bridgman, Michigan, March 14, 2017 - B&L Information Systems, global leader in ERP software for metalcasters, closed out 2016 on a high note. At Progress Software’s annual Partner conference in Orlando, Florida last month, B&L Information Systems was honored to receive the Progress’s 2016 SaaS Excellence Award. This annual award is given to only one of the more than 2,500 Progress Global Business partners that demonstrate technology-forward, cloud-based and industry leading software solutions.

2016 was B&L Information Systems 40th year in business providing ERP systems to the metalcasting industry. Also in 2016, B&L announced the general availability of the Odyssey ERP in a completely new Web UI (User Interface) available in the Cloud. Ten years ago, in 2007, that B&L made the decision to switch to a Cloud-based, subscription model of software deployment; a model often called Software as a Service (SaaS)

Philip Laney-webIn an internal statement, Philip Laney, CEO and President of B&L Information Systems, stated in part: “This award is a testament to B&L employees who have demonstrated their ability to embrace change and find a way to excel while others maintain the status quo.  We completely transformed this company from an on-premise, traditional software model to a Cloud-based, subscription model, a.k.a. Software as a Service or SaaS. This journey began around 2007 and wasn’t without its challenges.”

"Every department contributed to this company-wide business change. The Research & Development team developed a new, browser-based user interface; the Technology group built B&L’s Cloud data center whose reliability is superior to the likes of Amazon and Microsoft; the Support team created a self-help system which enables new Cloud users to learn, implement and succeed; the Administration group adopted new business processes for tracking, billing and collecting customer payments; and the Business Development group led the way by learning about SaaS and then educating our base markets to this new world of Cloud computing with its benefits and cost effectiveness.”

“Most people think that Charles Darwin said ‘the strong survive’. Actually, he said ’It’s not the strong of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.’  The team at B&L has responded to the challenge of the Cloud; and the results speak for themselves, with increasing adoption from our base markets and recognition among some of the leading tech companies in the field.”

This is B&L Information Systems’ second SaaS Excellence Award from Progress Software. B&L also won in 2013.
