B&L GO-LIVES AT AN ALL TIME HIGH

Odyssey Implemented Across North America

Bridgman, MI, August 13, 2015 - B&L Information Systems, global leader in ERP software for metalcasters, has seen a wave of customers going "live" with Odyssey ERP in the first six months of 2015. From single plant installations to multi-plant installations, Odyssey implementations have spanned the gamut, and have ranged technologically from first-time ERP solutions to updating an existing ERP system through expanding the current Odyssey ERP systems.

In the heartland of America, B&L's Professional Services Department kicked off initial customized ERP go-lives with three new customers: Aero Metal, Inc. of LaPorte, Indiana; Omaha Steel Castings Company, LLC. of Wahoo, Nebraska; and Richland Center Foundry, LLC. of Richland Center, Wisconsin. Richland Center Foundry is using Odyssey's Scheduling, Shop Floor Manager, Forecasting and Quality modules to improve the routing and timing of producing their gray and ductile iron castings products. Omaha Steel Castings Company chose to start with Odyssey ERP modules which allowed them to receive customer orders, ship products and receive payment with real-time knowledge of their on-hand inventory. Aero Metal focused on the Payables, Purchasing and Requisitions modules.

B&L Information Systems has been a technology leader in the ERP software industry for nearly 40 years. Many metalcasting companies saw the wisdom of an ERP system and implemented B&L's AS-400-based ERP system, BLIS, years ago. Now that B&L offers a SaaS ERP solution which is browser-based, those same forward-looking companies are improving their ERP results with a conversion to Odyssey. In the first half of 2015, B&L's team helped two family-owned metalcasting plants in Illinois: Galesburg Castings, Inc. of Galesburg and Rowe Foundry, Inc. of Martinsville, begin the conversion process from BLIS to Odyssey SaaS.

  • In addition to utilizing B&L's proprietary process document templates for standard practices, Galesburg Castings created process documents specific to their business process as well as adding automatic requisitions for purchased castings as part of Odyssey's Purchasing module.
  • Rowe Foundry has completed implementation on Odyssey General Ledger and Order Processing, ensuring a consistent flow of information in their office processes and Rowe has scheduled Shop Floor Manager as the next implementation phase to maximize the real-time two-way data flow Odyssey is known for.

Two multi-plant companies also began the process of converting their plants from BLIS to Odyssey in the first half of 2015.

Long-time B&L customer, Penticton Foundry of Penticton, British Columbia expanded to the use of Odyssey General Ledger in the first half of 2015, completing a journey towards data integration that started 2002. Penticton has gradually added Odyssey ERP modules, including Shop Floor Manager and Scheduling, over time. With the final addition of Odyssey General Ledger, Penticton now has all the critical data for up-to-the minute, detailed analytics and reporting for immediate and long-term decision-making in one software system, allowing better decisions to happen faster.
