Metalcasters Continue to Select Odyssey ERP

Bridgman, MI, October 5, 2015 - B&L Information Systems, the leading provider of metalcasting ERP, is pleased to announce the summer addition of four North American metalcasters to the Odyssey family. The holistic integration of the Odyssey Software as a Service (SaaS) system and metalcasting business process will help these four metalcasters realize significant benefits across their organizations, including: lower total cost of ownership, increased operational accuracy and efficiency, and the ability to focus resources on the business of metalcasting, rather than IT.

Cloud technology usage is on the rise in the business world. It is a natural shift for business owners and IT departments to look at a SaaS ERP system; as they do, more and more metalcasting businesses are realizing the tremendous benefits of running in the cloud. With a simple internet connection, metalcasters can begin implementing the Odyssey ERP solution. The four metalcasting businesses which selected B&L as their ERP provider of choice this summer each had reasons specific to their business to select Odyssey SaaS.

  • Spuncast Inc. of Watertown, Wisconsin signed with B&L and will begin kick-off planning on use of the Odyssey ERP system this month. Spuncast is known for their stainless steel centrifugal castings, heat treating, metallurgical testing and CNC machining. Odyssey will be replacing a trio of software systems previously in use: Syspro, Shopvue and ABS. Odyssey ERP, including Shop Floor Manager, will provide Spuncast with complete ERP functionality in a single ERP system designed for metalcasters which provides traditional back-office capabilities like accounting and finance through to full integration with customer and supplier enterprises.
  • Established in 1984, St. Marys Foundry, Inc. is making a move into modern ERP technology with the Odyssey ERP system. St. Marys Foundry produces iron castings from 500 lbs. to 60,000 lbs. for a wide variety of industries including - Air and Gas Compression, Power Generation, Turbines, Pumps, Valves, Engines, Aerospace, Mining, Machine Tool and many specialty markets. Based in Ohio, the company has positioned itself in the marketplace to take on highly engineered castings with sophisticated metals that many foundries struggle to make successfully. One critical factor in St. Marys' ERP selection process was Odyssey's ability to import historical data from their Alpha Four database for immediate use within Odyssey's applications from Supplier Portal to QuickClock.
  • During the many years family-owned Rochester Metal Products of Rochester, Indiana has been a customer of B&L's legacy BLIS software product, they have made innumerable improvements and upgrades to their metalcasting business. The latest upgrade for this specialist in gray and ductile iron castings is in the realm of software technology as they convert to Odyssey SaaS ERP software. Odyssey SaaS offers a Web User Interface (Web UI) which lets users easily see job status, quoted vs. actual costs, machine efficiency by shift, tooling cycles, scrap and rework and more in real-time.
  • Also updating to the Odyssey ERP software, Twin City Die Casting Company will kick-off their large-scale conversion project from BLIS in mid-October for all 3 plants: Minneapolis, Minnesota; Monticello, Minnesota; and Watertown, South Dakota. A full service provider of precision aluminum and magnesium die castings, Twin City will be integrating company-wide inventory management into Odyssey.

Beyond the ERP software, selecting B&L as their ERP provider means these four metalcasters will have access to a library of video training content and visual how-tos for FAQs, the Odyssey Customer Feedback Forum, and an array of Odyssey exclusive training classes taught by B&L's ERP experts.

B&L's Odyssey software was the first and remains the only cloud-based metalcasting ERP solution. Whether a single, family-owned business or a multi-plant facility, metalcasters of all sizes can benefit from having their IT burden eased as B&L takes care of: hardware and operating system configuration; application software support and maintenance; load balancing; daily backups; high availability failover; disaster recovery, etc. As technology advances it is clear that the shape of metalcasting's technology future is the cloud.
