Odyssey 7.2 Delivers Modern UI and SSO for Metalcasters

This strategic release increases user efficiency and strengthens system security, marking the next major step in the technology roadmap.

 

B&L Information Systems is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Odyssey 7.2, a major step forward in delivering a faster, smarter, and more modern platform for metalcasting businesses.

“Customer-focused enhancements are always a core element of what we’re doing in a new version,” said Brad Clark, Vice President of Research and Development at B&L. “We’re working to stay modern and current not just in how the system looks, but by making sure we're using modern tools and components to keep our customers efficient.”

 

Highlights of Odyssey 7.2

Modern User Experience

The 7.2 release marks the next phase of Odyssey ERP’s move to a modern interface built using the modern Angular web application framework. Key production screens have been redesigned to display information in clear rows and columns, offering a cleaner layout, easier navigation, and improved efficiency. Users can begin converting individual screens to the new modern view at their own pace ahead of a broader rollout in version 7.3 next year.

 

Single Sign-On

Odyssey 7.2 introduces Microsoft 365-based Single Sign-On (SSO) integration, available in beta. This enhancement allows users to sign in with their Microsoft credentials for a seamless and secure login experience. SSO will become generally available in version 7.3, with additional authentication options under consideration.

 

Expanded Customization and Security

The release includes new tools for managing user security and settings. Administrators can now replicate security settings across components, audit user permissions, and make mass updates to user preferences. Enhancements to email visibility and record copying give teams more control and consistency across users.

 

Improved Metalcasting Functionality

Odyssey 7.2 continues B&L’s commitment to industry-specific innovation. Enhancements include:

• New tools for resending ACH remittance details
• Updates to cycle counts and ABC analysis to include cores
• New API functions for faster data retrieval
• The ability to update user-defined fields in production records without re-running full corrections
• Streamlined shop order creation options and improved scrap handling
• Email notifications for scheduled preventive maintenance

 

Future Direction

B&L Information Systems continues to evolve Odyssey ERP with modernization and customer feedback at its core. Version 7.3, planned for spring 2026, will expand the modern interface to include import functions and maintenance management checklists, while future versions will continue expanding the modern UI to additional data entry screens.

“The Modern User Interface is a key part of our strategic direction,” said Clark. “We need to stay current with how the system looks, but more importantly, we’re positioning ourselves for the future by implementing user experience improvements and making sure the system not only looks better but acts better.”

 

Availability and Next Steps
