ODYSSEY WEB BROWSER-BASED UI AVAILABLE TO ALL USERS

B&L Information Systems Launches Odyssey 5.0 MR1

 

Bridgman, MI, May 17, 2016 - B&L Information Systems, the leader in ERP software for foundries and die casters, has launched Odyssey 5.0 MR1 for general availability. This release encompasses both the browser-based Web User Interface (UI) and the Windows UI.

"Our development of Odyssey continues to be guided by our users' experiences and their needs as expressed in our customer feedback forum. In this version of Odyssey, we focused heavily on improving the Web UI as we prepared it for general availability," stated Brad Clark, Odyssey Product Manager. "As we continue to grow the Odyssey Web UI, our focus is on creating the best possible user experience for a browser-based environment."

Initially rolled out to beta users in 2015, the full version of the Web UI for all Odyssey modules is zero-client ERP technology which eliminates the need for metalcasting manufacturers to use specialty devices and 3rd party software interfaces to get the most out of their ERP. The Odyssey's Web UI may be used with any browser-based device, including laptops and tablets; supported browsers include Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, FireFox, or Chrome.

Business logic improvements for Odyssey 5.0 MR1 :

  •          Auto creation of rework shop order when inspection fails
  •          Receiving greater quantities than purchased
  •          Selecting heat treat batches from a list of ready products

Web UI specific improvements to Odyssey include:

  •          Integration of Rapid Support as a Help option
  •          Outside Inventory from Product Inventory
  •          Support for Microsoft Edge

For clients who host Odyssey on their own servers, Odyssey 5.0 MR1 information is available via the B&L customer portal; below is a form if installation assistance is needed. Odyssey SaaS clients will be contacted by B&L's Technology Department with the update schedule.

Note: Odyssey users can update from any version of Odyssey to Odyssey 5.0 MR1. The Installation Questionnaire Form on will help clients with the upgrade process. Any assistance needed in the update process is free for any client on maintenance with B&L. User Installation Instructions for Odyssey 5.0

 

Below is a link to an installation questionnaire form that you will need to complete before B&L can schedule your installation. It is imperative that you provide all of the requested information so that B&L's Support Team can verify that your system meets the prerequisites for the Odyssey 5.0 installation.

Please supply three preferred dates, in order of preference, and indicate any circumstances, such as plant shutdown, that makes one date preferable to the others. As always, B&L will schedule the upgrades in the order that they are received, while making every effort to accommodate special circumstances.
