MODERN TECHNOLOGY FOR CENTURY OLD FOUNDRIES

Odyssey the ERP of Choice for Iron Foundries

Bridgman, MI, November 11, 2015 - B&L Information Systems is pleased to announce two additions to the Odyssey family of companies, Ancast Industries, LTD and Talladega Foundry & Machine Co., Inc., both companies specializing in ductile and gray iron. These two Odyssey customer signings bring the number of metalcasters selecting B&L's browser-based ERP, Odyssey,  to a dozen metalcasters for 2015.

Ancast Industries, LTD is a 115 employee production green sand foundry that makes grey, ductile, and austempered iron castings up to 300 pounds for clients across North America and Europe. Located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, 15 years ago the Canadian foundry had purchased an ERP which staff now supplements multiple Excel spreadsheets, binders and on-floor white boards to meet the growing needs of their industrial equipment, energy, and agricultural clientele. Since the initial ERP investment, Ancast has invested heavily in upgraded capital equipment for the foundry; now, Ancast is poised to ramp up with a new, modern ERP designed for the unique business needs of metalcasters.

Going forward, Ancast will be using B&L's Odyssey Web User Interface (UI) for instant information to maximize production meetings and to track KPIs. Ancast expects to reduce paper flow by eliminating redundant keying and improve accuracy of front office information. This 103 year old foundry plans to be prepared with the latest technology to meet the changing needs of the agriculture, industrial equipment and oil sectors.

Talladega Foundry & Machine Co., Inc of Talladega, Alabama is a 60 employee jobbing shop producing aluminum as well as gray and ductile iron castings that span from a single ounce to 5,000 pounds. Talladega's in-house operations include: pattern shops, core making department, molding department, melting department, cleaning department, machining facilities, special finishing, and a quality control department to meet the needs of restoration/renovation projects and new ornamental components.

Having invested in an ERP system, BLIS, for their AS400 some years back, the 106 year old Talladega Foundry & Machine Company is ready to be part of manufacturing's strong future with efficiencies in place to meet future needs. Talladega will be converging their unique cores and getting foundry staff engaged with Odyssey's Shop Floor Manager. The goal is to equip staff with real-time data on KPIs and production planning to leverage staff to meet upcoming needs.

"The current manufacturing climate makes this is an optimal time to prepare for the next market surge by upgrading technology," says Matt Gacek, Vice President - Business Development for B&L Information Systems. "B&L customers typically report back to us that the efficiencies gained from having fully integrated ERP solution with real-time data produces fiscal benefits fairly soon after Odyssey implementation."
